Hot tubs to some are a great way to end a work day and relieve all that built up stress. To others they are a way of easing the pain from an injury or age. And don’t forget that they are a great time. Everyone loves soaking in a nice hot tub. It’s relaxing and enjoyable and you must be a crazy person if you don’t. So don’t think of hot tubs as just a giant bath tub for the rich, they have become very affordable and worth investing in if you like fun or relaxing.
But hot tubs don’t just sit out back or on a patio and just work, they require care and maintenance just like owning a car (except they don’t need gas). Hot tubs, if taken care of properly can last a really long time. So here are a few things you need to know in order to practice proper hot tub care.
Hot tubs are cleaned using a filter system much like a pool. Your hot tub may have one or many cartridges that the water runs through in order to clean the water. These hot tub filters need to be cleaned, or at least rinsed, once a week. So here is what you do, every week take out your hot tub’s cartridge(s) and rinse them down with a garden hose or in a sink. This will help to remove any debris that has built in the filters over the week. If you do this every week then those filters will last a good amount of time. Now every two weeks or a month (depending on how much you use your hot tub) you should soak the filters in a hot tub filter cleaner or a muriadic acid diluted solution over night. This will break down any small debris or oils and really give your filters a thorough clean. You should rinse your filters well before putting them back in.
