Children are precious things and as such it there is an overwhelming urge to purchase the best bed possible for your child. However, with such a range of styles, designs, special features and prices it can often be overwhelming.
When choosing a suitable children’s bed, the first thing to consider is size. For those younger children, a full sized bed is often too intimidating for young children making that change from a cot which is for a baby and consists of a complete surround to something so open and large. A good in-between for this age range is a mid sized bed, with a special guard at the side facing away from the wall. In this way, if the child does roll, then the guard stops them from falling.
For the older child, design is often something that is considered. In a smaller room it may be worth considering a special bed which has built in drawer areas. These can be simply a couple of drawers which are under the bed and pull out, or as complex as the bed being raised with there being seating or playing space underneath as well as a drawer set forming part of the bed.
Themed beds are also an interesting idea for the middle age range, although it should be noted that with the theme comes an additional price. Beds can come in the shape of cars or spaceships etc or be princess style four poster etc. It should be remembered when splashing out on a bed like this to keep in mind that your child will inevitably grow and what may seem thrilling to a younger child may suddenly become childish when they hit puberty!
Childrens beds are undoubtedly an important thing – especially considering the number of hours that they will spend in them. However, it is important to take your time to make the right choice to choose a bed that will last your child the longest possible time.
