When it comes to the items which are not strictly essential when decorating a room you might find yourself (or your partner) reluctant to spend too much money especially if you have spent a lot already. But it is a shame to miss out the decorative effect of window valances, just because they are not essential. If you really have no money left, then you can always plan your valances and add them later but if it is just that you do not want to spend too much, here are some ways that you can buy valances for less.
1. Look for Valances in Sales
You will often find window valances on sale at the end of the season in large department stores which sell curtains. This is often the case (and you can get some huge reductions) where all the matching curtains are sold and they are left with the valances. Don’t dismiss these as you can make a very effective window treatment (cheap too) by adding a decorative valance to a plain blind in a matching color. Even if you want to go the custom route with your curtains and valances, you should get some reduction in the sales on fabric and/or making up.
2. Visit Designer Outlet Malls
Designers sell goods at much reduced prices at outlet malls and factory stores. The “end of the season” idea also works here too and you can often pick up something gorgeous for very little because there are no matching items remaining in stock.
3. Buy on the Web
You will find many window valances at discount prices for every room in your home and in every color. If you want blue valances for your kitchen, you will find them on line at a discount. If you want pink valances for your baby girl’s room, the same applies. It can be quite an eye-opener after seeing the prices which many local stores charge to find what you can save by shopping on the web so always take a look there before thinking that valances are out of your reach.
