Porch Awnings

When the weather is nice, there is nothing better than spending time outside, on your porch or back deck.  Reading, cooking out, barbecuing, and entertaining friends and family are all great American summer pastimes.  But the best laid plans can come crashing down if the weather turns at all; a little rain, or even too much sun, can ruin a well-planned afternoon.

One option is to add a roof to your patio or deck; this will ensure that you always stay dry, and that there is always a dry spot on your patio for you to sit in.  But adding a full-fledged roof is a complex project that can involve a lot of money, time, and even building permits and inspections.  A much simpler option is to add a porch awning to your house.

Porch awnings come in many styles; however, one of the most common designs is one where by the awning is mounted to the outside wall of your house where the patio is, and extends out to provide cover or shade when you need it, but then retracts back into place when you do not need cover.  These retractable awnings are usually made of a sturdy outdoor grade canvas, and are very effective.  One of the best materials for the frames of these awnings is aluminum; aluminum porch awnings are light, and are resistant to rusting, ensuring that you will be able to enjoy your porch for years to come.

For those who choose to live on the road in a caravan or RV, caravan porch awnings are almost identical to house mounted versions.  They attach to the side of your RV, stay retracted while you are driving, and then extend when you arrive at your destination.  RV porch awnings effectively add to the livable space of your RV, and create a nice porch outside of your RV.
