Although it might not be a reason for most people to persuade themselves installing external lighting in to their garden, patio or driveway but research has shown that it both improves the safety and security around your house dramatically. If you have a bigger garden that it is probably full of down-steps or up-steps and you might fall if you miss them while you are walking in your garden when it is dark. You would also not be the first person trembling on his doorstep or stairs because the surrounding was not illuminated properly. It is also very useful if you want to park your car on your driveway without doing any damage or when you are looking for your keys in order to open your front door.
Besides safety, walkway lighting or any other lighting near to your house will increase security. You can install motion detectors to most types of lanterns and lamps which make you aware when someone is approaching. This is very useful if you are expecting visitors but it also makes you aware when someone is there who you are not expecting.
Burglars just hate everything that is associated with lights because that might detect them while they are ‘busy’. It is a proven fact that they rather skip houses that are lighted properly and look further for a more easy prey.
