Plastic edging is a very simple and effective way to do a variety of landscaping jobs. The edging is usually one piece of flexible plastic about eight inches tall and eight feet long. Combining multiple edgings, a person could “cut out” or organize their entire lawn, putting each plant group within one, nicely edged, section.
Plastic lawn edging comes in a variety of colors and over all design styles, though the basic principles will remain the same. Plastic edging is usually flexible so that you can put it around turns and give a circular effect to your design. It makes for a great divider between your lawn and your flowers and or plants; it also helps to keep the mulch out of the grass.
Plastic garden edging is a very good way to keep your garden separated from your other plants, trees or your yard in general and will aid in keeping the compost where you put it. Another great thing is plastic landscape edging which allows you to create a layout of your yard in a similar fashion to dividing your garden and flowers. Black plastic edging is the most commonly used color, though green, brown and gray can also be found along with a few others.
Installing plastic edging is rather simple, just dig out a small trench to fit the edging in, place it and stake it down by putting metal or plastic stakes into the stake holes provided. Some types do not require stakes, however. Other forms of edging include plastic brick edging which is a nicer looking substitute to the normal plastic edging.
Plastic landscape edging is a cheap, relativity easy solution to many landscaping ideas and it will last a long time. Most home improvement stores will carry at least one variety of plastic edging.
